After 4 in home care takers, the pattern was " we are incompetent."
I was released from the hospital, with Bright Star as as referal for my needs, as a "campanion" aid: to dust, prepare meals, help me if I fell. The first aid didn't know how to cook and was allergic to dust. He also liked to take naps after dinner. The second one told me more about her family problems than I ever shared with her about my about my own. The third divulged to me a certain large scale apartment developer, L*****y had developed Alzhemers, and what he was saying to his wife in front of her. She had been working seven days a week to make extra money and just been released from a mental hospital due to the drain on a persons emotions and mind it had taken. Bright Star was not accepting any responsibility for the bill or her time off. Note: She also said she was told I was "hard to get along with." I have had my new company for over year, with one person and no "incidents". I live in North West Arkansas. Our Bright Star should shot down. I hope this helps. * the names of the inocent have protected, Bright Star has not, everything else I have written is true, I could write much more.

Positive Experience Review
I applied to the ofc in Charleston SC. I was interviewed and hired by the owner. I was having financial issues and unable to pay for my post job requirements. They were very caring and understanding. I finally started about a month later. Great company and the starting pay is decent. I started work the same week as training class.

BrightStar??? More like DullStar
This agency has hounded me for an interview with at least 4 phone calls. I finally called them back to set-up an interview. The representative's attitude was very rude and aloof. I finally made the appointment on a Monday but had to cancel. I left a message for them on Sunday that I would not be able to make the appointment but would like an opportunity to call back and reschedule. Well I called back to reschedule and again a "rude" representative. I was told once you cancel they don't reschedule you. What???? Has BrightStar forgotten what type of business they're in . . . compassionate, caring. Should not only be for the clients but the employees and possible candidates as well. Maybe you should leave your egos at the door and focus on what's important. You just passed on a highly skilled and truly compassionate candidate. I will make sure all my friends and family know that BrightStar is not as "bright" as they think they are.

Bright Star Care-breached confidence and did not respond to inquiries
Updated by user Jun 09, 2013
It's a small world, I came into contact with a person who did computer work for the owner. She signed a contract but after doing so, tried to get out of it, and when he refused to cancel it, she posted negative (untruthful) reviews about him in the networking organization they both belonged to.
I don't know if that shows the company is experiencing financial difficulties or shows a lack of ethics on the owners part, but I think prospective clients be aware of either potential problems.

Bright Star Care in Torrance, CA is an agency that provides health care both in the home and out for the elderly and children. I am not a client of this company so can not rate the care they provide but rather to warn how ONE individual franchise's lack of response to a minor problem, may show THAT particular agency's general inability to handle a major one. I am not criticizing the company in general and at the end of this review, have a suggestion for those potential clients near this location, who would like to try this company. I went to the owner, Ms. Theeuwes about a complaint with an employee. Because I was not a client and it was of a rather personal nature she was unable to help but assured me this would remain confidential. It did not, and there were severe repercussions with the said employee threatening me. I then, first called, where I could tell the owner was too startled to talk to me, then emailed so she would have time to think out a reply or an excuse. I asked the owner, why she had betrayed the confidentiality, what she said (the employee hinted at things I never said) and for compelling reasons only to me, when he was told. Although I would've like the answers, if she felt so uncomfortable with the situation that she didn't want to address the issues, I would have accepted that along with an apology, but I DON'T like simply being ignored as if my concerns don't even merit the courtesy of a reply. She would not answer and her actions makes me think, that if one had a problem with an employee at this agency, not only would one's complaint might not remain confidential as one would be promised, but one may wonder if her modus operandi in handling problems, was to just ignore them, hoping it would go away? Had she at least responded in ANY fashion to address my concerns, I would not have written either this review or have gone to the CEO of the firm who DID take interest in my concerns and although would not intercede in this matter directly, would at least counsel the owner on how to manage matters of confidentiality and hopefully to be more pro active in responding to others (I hope this is incorporated in their system wide training.) I AM impressed with the leadership of this company and WILL tell people to go to one of the other independently owned centers, and in this area, the one in Inglewood is close by ( you are allowed to use an agency NOT in your territory, as long as you fill out certain paperwork.)

I worked for Brightstar for 9 months. The whole time I was treated unfairly.
I Dont recommend ppl to put their loved ones in their care. The people that hired me in the beginning left. They got new ppl that's all about money.
I was at the hospital with my husband, they wanted me not to be there. I bust my butt working for Brightstar, never again
